A note from Allie:
I would say that the most-asked questions/requests that we get here at The A-List are...
"What should I wear?" What should I wear to work?" or "I need help putting outfits together". Let's face it… we're so busy - working women, working moms… fashion can fall behind.
Basics-with-a-twist and 'wow' accessories are ALWAYS stylish and en-trend.

And I hear ya! It's incredibly time consuming to try to figure out what to wear, what's cool and trendy yet versatile and what will look good on your figure. All within your budget...
So while I'm always here to help you - (Ask me ANYTHING - even for a Complimentary Lookbook of your own) - I also wanted to remind you of a few other outlets where you can find all kinds of STYLE INSPIRATION whether you're interviewing for an internship, asking for that promotion or heading to parents/teachers night...

1. USE THE PERSONAL SHOPPERS IN YOUR AREA. THEY'RE FREE! And - Use more than one! Call for an appointment or book one online from their website.
Nordstrom rocks. (no, I don't get paid to say that - but I wish I did) The store's vast inventory and resources means that they can style a complete new wardrobe for you or just beef-up your existing one - all within your budget.

TIP: Choose your 3 favorite stores: For example, two larger department stores (i.e. Nordstrom, Macys or Saks Fifth Avenue and one boutique or an online one, like JCrew, Shopbop, Topshop or NastyGal. (Yes. Many online shops have personal shoppers too.)
TIP: When making the appointment - BE IN CHARGE and be specific! If you want to only see items that are under $100 and in particular around the $50 mark - then tell the stylist to please pull a few pieces for you at that range and in your size BEFORE you get there. This will save valuable time. And Remember... they are working for YOU!
TIP: Before going in - peruse their website and note any items that you LOVE. If they don't have them in-store for you to try-on, then have them order them for you and shipped to the store or to your home or ask them to pull something similar.

This Lookbook from JCrew "means": Try a plaid shirt with your favorite skirt. If you aren't 17 or are not comfortable with a short, 'FLIRTY' skirt, then pair it with an office appropriate pencil skirt. And don't forget… Shop Your Closet first.
Stylist Tip: Dryclean and press your plaid shirt so that it's tidy and office appropriate.

2. MAGAZINES
Use magazines and their websites as YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLIST.
The 'Fashion Editor" position at any publication is more correctly The 'Fashion Stylist". Yes, they have deadlines and work in a publishing environment - but at the heart of it - they are STYLISTS and they have major experience in 'what-to-wear' and trend-spotting. USE THEM! If they are saying mix and match or THIS is 'What-To-Wear' then use that photo as INSPIRATION to first, 'Shop Your Closet' and then look to add a few key pieces that will fill out the look.

3. CATALOGS
Don't look at these pages simply as SHOPPING ideas - look at them as STYLING IDEAS
Loft.com (below) probably paid this professional stylist's day-rate of $$$ to $$$$ (per day!). YOU get their services for FREE! Be inspired by the looks she/he created and shop your own closet first then add a few essentials.
See the styling tips here? Try a printed shirt with a black skirt for work, pair orange and black together. What about a colorful pair of tights (instead of black ones)? How about wearing a colorful camisole or tank top under your favorite wrap dress?
